Ozone Pilots Win with the Slalom

The new Slalom has been piloted to several wins already this year in the beginning of the 2013 competition season.

At the Expo Montegrappa, a majority of the pilots were flying Ozone, although there were several team pilots from other brands. A figure 8 FAI slalom task was flown. Alex Mateos (Viper 18) and Aurelien Ganaye (Slalom 21) completed the tasks with impressive times of 30 and 32 seconds, 5-6 seconds faster than the next pilots in the ranking. Congrats guys, well done, and we assume that was great training for the upcoming French Champs.

The first league of the Italian PPG championships was organized during the first weekend of April. Of the event,  Raffaele Benetti said, “Finally in Italy the level of competition is gradually aligning to the rest of Europe, with more and more technical tasks, improved pilot skills, and the best equipment”. On the podium of the first event, three Ozone Slalom pilots stood together. In first place, Sandro Passeri (Seven time Italian champion) once again affirmed his lead.

160km in… Thailand?

As if tropical beaches, exotic mountain jungle scenes, and awesome food were not enough, Thailand just added “XC Paragliding” to the list of reasons to visit. This week one of our Thai importers, Pornchai L., broke the national XC record with a 160km flatland flight under his Mantra M4.  Pornchai launched early to avoid afternoon winds, and followed cumulus clouds for the duration of his flight; 5hrs, 160km.

Paramotor instruction with an Amazing Couple!

BlackHawk Paramotor Lessons

The people you get to meet in this sport are just as amazing as the sport itself. People from all around the world come together with one common goal… To get in the air! Recently, an amazing young couple from New Jersey made their way out to California for paramotor instruction at BlackHawk Paramotor in California. Thomas Santora and Darcy Maloney instantly fell in love with the amazing landscape and were very excited to explore it with a Powered Paraglider. “It’s really great to see couples getting involved in the sport together. Tom and Darcy brought a great energy to the Ranch with them.” said Mike Robinson of BlackHawk Paramotors.

It was 7a.m. when Tom and Darcy’s adventure started. After being introduced to BlackHawk’s Head Trainer Rick Hallowes, the couple began their introduction to the gear. A short time later, they had their training harnesses on and a wing in the air. The weather was beautiful, so after a lunch break, everyone headed down to the lake shore for a change in scenery and conditions. Rick Hallowes commented “These guys are quick learners. They are doing really well! I’m sure they will both make good pilots.” It wasn’t until 7p.m. that everyone decided to call it a day, and a very productive day at that. Samantha Whittaker, the videographer said, “Everyone was having so much fun we didn’t realize how long we’d been out there. I’m sure they will be sore tomorrow!”

Day 2 was just as productive as the first. The couple spent hours refining their newly acquired skills. They dug deep into the training syllabus, absorbing as much information as they could handle.
