Expert XC Pilot and veteran instructor, Andrey Alepov, writes to us about a mega-tow his school performed in Russia recently. Andrey reports:

“We have set a new record to bring a pilot to 3110m, towing. We have found a long field about 5 km. We put together many cables and came to the result of 5 km of cable. We used the tandem Magnum for a single pilot to compensate the possible load to the wing. The wind was 2 – 4 ms that day. The time of towing was 40min. Chrigel Maurer has just completed a legendary performance at the 2013 X-Alps race, finishing in a record 7 days, which is all the more impressive considering that the 2013 course was the longest ever set. Chrigel’s lead grew steadily each day until he was almost 300km ahead of his nearest competitor by the end of the race.
