The Austrian Open happened last weekend in Abtenau, Austria. The German league held their second and final comp for the German Championship at the same time, with 3 valid and good tasks.
Alex Schalber won the overall comp just with 1 point ahead of Christoph Eder to become the 2016 Austrian Champion.
Christoph Eder took 2nd, Jurij Vidic 3rd, Ferdinand Vogel 4th, and Martin Petz took 5th, all on Enzo 2s. The 5th place overall rank of Martin Petz was enough to become German Champion due to already winning the first part of the competition this spring, when he became Bavarian Champion. Women’s 1st place was taken by Yvonne Dathe and 3rd by Ewa Korneluk-Guzy, both flying M6s.
You can find full results here.
Congrats and cheers from all the team!

Our R&D team flies every day that they can in and around the OZONE office in the South of France, which is very often thanks to the Mediterranean influence. Every now and then, especially in the springtime, they see a soaring forecast that is just way too good to only enjoy locally!
On Friday, May 20th, Luc and Honorin were heading to work when they realized that it was one of those strong and windy days, so they took a detour and ended up at Gourdon’s Launch. Luc had this to say about the day:
“This spring, we have had very few possible days for XC, overall it’s been very windy. OK windy for testing near Gourdon but not for XC, so we were a little greedy. That Friday we saw the first average XC day finally arriving so while most of the team went to work, Honorin and I escaped to score a 244K and 239K FAI triangle from Gourdon respectively”
After this flight, Honorin was still hungry! So on Saturday, May 21st, he refilled his camelback and returned to Gourdon’s launch. Even though the conditions looked far from perfect, he managed to fly an incredible 342 km! After 10 …read more

The Cornizzolo Cup Italian Open 2016 held on Mt. Cornizozolo has come to a close after five valid tasks.
Giorgio Sabbioni sent the following report and photos:
Every task was technical, with mixed flying among flatlands and mountain ridges and varied options and lines to fly. For the first four days, Nicola Donini, the youngest pilot in the comp and son of the legendary Italian pilot Luca Donini, led the field.
The final task of 72km was very technical and fast – there were two different lines to choose from: a straight and risky line in flatlands and an easier but slower line along the ridge. Almost all of the pilots went for the flatlands pushing from beginning to end to reach the podium as at this point there were several pilots with the chance to reach a high ranking in the event.
At the end the final result was… familiar. The Italian title went to both Luca Donini and his son Nicola Donini, after tying with an overall score of 3574 pts! Both were flying Enzo 2s and neither of them are new to the podium. Luca is a former World and European Champion and Nicola won the Italian championship in 2013 when …read more
