Alex Mateos wins British Open 2014

The first international competition of the season was a lot of fun for Ozone Team Pilot, Alex Mateos, who took 1st place overall in the classic and slalom competitions, competing against current world champions, Pascal Vallee, and former World Champion, Michele Carnet.

Alex impressed the field in ever event, but in the “Pure Eco” task, he scored a massive lead.

Dave Turner Completes Sierra Crossing

Dave Turner has just completed an 820km traverse and crossing of the California Sierra, starting at the Pacific Ocean in Santa Barbara and finishing in Verdi, Nevada. Flying in the western USA can be very demanding, with big air and large expanses of wild terrain. Dave’s route was no exception, and his trip is very impressive considering that he did it solo and unsupported. There are various versions of vol-biv flying, and the solo/unsupported kind, which crosses big and uninhabited terrain, is probably the most severe. Dave reports that his LM5 performed admirably in some serious turbulence.

Ozone Pilots Win in Albania

At the 2014 Albanian National Champs, Ilir Kafazi and Xhonatan Islami took first places in the XC and Accuracy competitions, respectively.

Ilir was flying his Delta 2, and Xhonatan was flying his Buzz Z3. Congrats guys, excellent work! And the closing ceremony looks quite amazing, we must say.

X-Rockies Team Cruises Southward!

The X-Rockies Team is more than halfway through the most ambitious vol-biv adventure ever attempted in North America. They are currently making excellent time, and enjoying some good spring conditions in the remote American West. Previous update here.
