PPG Virgin 4 – Moment of Truth
By Heidi Lee
Today was the day! Was I nervous? A tad. Was I ready? Flippin’ absolutely!
I woke up on this morning ready. When I got to the shop, the guys had some OLD HONKIN huge Paramotor waiting for me by the simulator. They had me put it on and I couldn’t believe how ungodly heavy it was. I couldn’t even walk with it! It kept hitting the backs of my calves and I was pissed! This thing did NOT look like the BlackHawk Paramotor that I was expecting to fly. There was NO WAY on god’s green earth that I was going to be able to launch this thing. Forget how heavy it was, the fuel tank and the lower frame hitting the bottoms of my legs made it impossible. How could anyone launch this beast?
Ahhhh! It turns out that it was all a joke. Good one guys! They put a Flat Top on my back! Rick rolled open the shop door and there sat a brand new BlackHawk R90 and the machine was beautiful! I loved the black and red coloring, the shiny exhaust, and the motor. It was so tiny! I couldn’t wait to put this machine on my back. Doing so was such a sigh of relief and a major excitement. The weight, and feel of the BlackHawk, compared to the ”joke machine” was a world of difference. The unit was light and felt very comfortable.
After drooling over my BlackHawk R90, they hung me in the simulator. The simulator is it’s a tool that lifts you off the ground so someone can adjust the unit so that it hangs at the proper angle. For me, that was about 2-3 degrees leaned back. The simulator is also used for you to learn how to get in and out …read more
