UNDER THE MIDNIGHT SUN

Dave Turner just got back to civilization after an epic journey in Alaska. Here he shares his experience:

“Alaska has proved to be an experience of a lifetime- and oh boy, do we have some stories to tell! Two days ago we popped out at Cantwell, having made a vol biv traverse of most of the Alaska Range by hiking and flying our paragliders. Our route was about 450 kilometers long, and we flew approximately 64% of the distance covered. It was 29 days of pure adventure.

We started out at the SW tip of the Alaska Range, right at the border of Lake Clark National Park. From there we headed up towards the north slope of the range, battling bad weather and brutally rough hiking terrain. Oh yeah, did I mention that we had to post hole for MILES through waist deep snow over Sled Pass? Two days for six miles, hiking 12 hours a day!? Luckily we had a few short flights in these first days as well, which gave us hope that our route would work.

Alex Mateos and Viper 4 win 3 golds

The European Slalom Championships took place in the south of Spain in Bornos from June 12 – 18, 2016. It was the first FAI slalom event organized over the water to increase the safety of pilots.

There were 37 pilots competing from 7 countries. Good weather conditions allowed many slalom tasks to be run nearly every morning, which is necessary to run a proper, fair, and well played competition.

OZONE Team pilot Alex Mateos, flying a Viper 4, lead most of the competition days and managed to keep first place until the finals. Alex Mateos was flying in 2 categories, foot launch and single trike, and won both categories with a great style!

Alex reports:

“Polish team were the biggest competition for me, they were very strong and establish themselves in leading positions from the beginning of the competitions. Some of the pilots error and mechanical problems results in water splash but always with no injuries and manage to prepare their equipment to continue competition. What a pleasure to fly over water! Opening event 2016 of Acro PWC- Molveno, Italy

The First Acrobatic Paragliding World Cup of 2016, King of Brenta, celebrated in Molveno-Italy has come to a close.

OZONE’s pilot Felix Rodriguez and his brother Raul are back on the podium, taking the first place in the synchro category.Felix also took the 2nd place spot on the podium at Italy’s Acrobatic Championship last week, flying his Trickster 2.
