The 2nd editioin of the Ozone Slalom Open series took place the weekend of 18 – 20 July in Neeroeteren, Belgium. The event was organized in cooperation with Filip Peremans, our Ozone representative in Belgium who runs Pro Fly Paramotor School.
Despite a windy forecast, more than 30 pilots came together for this event! During the training tasks, a few of the pilots present were able to experience flying around pylons for the first time, and they had their time measured and compared with their friends. Combining PPG with other sports can make both disciplines more fun and interesting. Lord Maude Visionary Film Worx recently produced a short piece in cooperation with “Just Gas it”. In it, Ozone team pilot, Emilia Plak, flies her Ozone Slalom 16 together with three top enduro riders across the desert dunes of the UAE.

The Italian Championship took place during what has been described as the worst week of weather of the year so far in northern Italy. Two difficult tasks were flown in the end resulting in Paolo Facchini and Peter Gebhard finishing first and second on their Enzo 2s. Six of the top ten pilots were on Ozone gliders. Chrigel Maurer has won the 2014 X-Pyrenees race by a comfortable margin, in just 5 days of flying. Chrigel finished the 437km course well ahead of second place, together with his teammate Thomas Theurillat. Chrigel flew his Ozone LM5, the same wing which carried him to victory in the 2013 RedBull X-Alps.
The X-Pyrenees event crosses a shorter chain of mountains than the X-Alps, but brings athletes through more remote and wild terrain. For more information on the route and the event, check out the live tracking and event site.
