Charles Cazaux Sets New Distance Record in Australia

Charles shares his story of his distance record in Australia:

After a few months thinking about this flight and several days waiting for it, finally I made it happen in the strangest way…

It is 10:30am and I am on tow, when suddenly the line breaks! The tow bridle and drogue are still with me, so I fly above the ground crew and drop them. With my remaining altitude I immediately fly to the lee side of a line of trees along the river to do my best to stay in the air, I get a little lift and keep chasing thermals through the cloud shadows.

After three and half hours I have covered just a 100km. The lift is weak and the wind is light. My hope for a new record before I head home starts to vanish.

But we are never finished until we touch the ground, so I keep flying with countless low saves on the way. Every time I nail a decent climb I need to be quick and glide to what I think could be the next source of lift. Alex Mateos wins World Air Games in Dubai

Ozone Team pilot Alex Mateos wins the most important and spectacular paramotor competition of the 2015 season – World Air Games 2015.

The event took place in Dubai December 2nd-12th, 2015. 38 top pilots from 18 countries competed.

Alex was flying a prototype of a new Ozone competition wing and won most of the slalom tasks despite tough competitors from Poland, his french team mates, and many others from all around the World.

Here is short report from Alex: “I am very happy to compete in Dubai. All slalom tasks were over the water, which is a new rule in FAI competitions. Before the first task I was not sure my position against other pilots but I gain a confidence quickly with my new equipment and a new location. Weather conditions were a big difficult with strong wind and light turbulence. I am very satisfy with my performance during all tasks…..”
